His death coincided with the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, a landmark event he oversaw as the last Governor of the erstwhile state. Known for his outspoken nature and principled approach, Malik often voiced sharp criticism of government policies, particularly on issues like agriculture, security lapses, and corruption.
