Many new automobiles are coming to India, particularly in the SUV and electric vehicle (EV) segments.
Here’s a breakdown of some noteworthy upcoming launches :
>> Electric Vehicles:
> Tata Sierra EV :–Â Anticipated for late 2025, with an expected price of Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom). It will draw inspiration from the original Sierra design but feature EV-specific characteristics.
- The Tata Sierra EV is a highly anticipated all-electric SUV from Tata Motors. It represents a modern revival of the classic Sierra nameplate.
- The launch is expected in the second half of 2025, potentially by September. It’s anticipated to arrive before its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.
- The Sierra EV is predicted to fit into Tata’s lineup between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV.Â

> Mahindra XEV 7e :–Â This seven-seater electric SUV, essentially the production version of the XUV.e8, is expected to launch in the latter half of 2025. Prices are projected to range from Rs 20.9 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. It is expected to be well-equipped with features such as a triple-screen setup, multi-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, ambient lighting, and potentially remote parking features found on the 9e model. In terms of safety, it is likely to include Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), adaptive cruise control, 360-degree cameras, and multiple airbags.

> Maruti Suzuki e Vitara :–Â Maruti’s first fully electric offering, unveiled at Auto Expo 2025, is scheduled to launch by September 2025. The estimated price range is Rs 22.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Â The e Vitara features a modern, rugged SUV design that takes cues from the eVX concept. It incorporates aerodynamic elements like R18 Aerodynamic Alloys and a Smart Grille with Adaptive Shutters.
- Battery and Range:
- It will be offered with two battery options: a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh LFP blade-cell battery pack. These batteries are supplied by BYD.
- Maruti claims the 61kWh version will offer a range of over 500 km.
- The smaller 49kWh version has a WLTP range of 346 km.
- The larger 61kWh version in single-motor configuration is rated for 428 km of range.

> MG M9 :-Â A luxury electric MPV rumored to launch in 2025, with an expected price between Rs 14-16 lakh.The MG M9 is an electric MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) that will be sold in India through MG’s premium Select dealerships. It aims to provide a luxurious and comfortable experience for passengers, particularly those in the middle row, according to reviews.

- Electric Powertrain:Â It’s an all-electric MPV with a 90 kWh battery pack and a claimed driving range of 430 km (WLTP certified) or 548 km (internal tests).
- Seating Capacity:Â The M9 has a 3-row seating configuration, accommodating up to 7 passengers. The middle-row captain seats are designed for exceptional comfort, with features like heating, ventilation, and massage functions, controlled via an armrest-mounted touchscreen.
- Luxury Features:Â It boasts features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, rear entertainment screens, and reclining ottoman seats.
- Safety:Â It has received a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and comes equipped with 7 airbags, ESC, all-around disc brakes, Isofix child seat mounts, a tire pressure monitor, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
- Performance:Â The M9 is powered by a front-axle mounted motor delivering 245hp and 350 Nm of torque.
- Pricing and Competition: MG has hinted that the M9 will be priced between the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire in India. It is expected to be priced around ₹70 Lakh (ex-showroom) and ₹71.21 Lakh (on-road in Mumbai). Its estimated launch is July 2025.

>>Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Hybrid Vehicles :
> Skoda Superb :–Â The fourth generation Superb, globally launched in mid-2024, is set to arrive in India later in 2025 with a redesigned exterior and interiors. The Skoda Superb is a premium sedan, currently in its fourth generation. The 2025 model was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and is expected to launch in India around December 2025.
Features include a touchscreen infotainment system and other amenities. Safety features encompass multiple airbags and various driver aids.
The previous model was priced at Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The expected price range for the new Superb 2025 is between ₹55.00 – 60.00 Lakh (ex-showroom).

> Renault Duster :– The new-gen Duster was initially planned for launch in 2025, but reports suggest it may be pushed to early 2026. However, there is also information about a potential comeback of the Duster brand in the Indian market this year. The Duster is anticipated to launch in India around June 2026, with an expected starting price of around ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected to be a 5-seater vehicle with a boot space of 472 liters.
Expected features on the international version include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital driver’s display. Safety features are expected to include 6 airbags and electronic stability control (ESC).

Hybrid vehicles :
- Hyundai and Kia are expected to launch hybrid versions of their popular models like the Creta and Seltos.
- Honda may introduce a hybrid version of the Elevate SUV and could even launch the ZR-V hybrid SUV in India by early 2026.
- The Maruti Fronx Hybrid and the new generation of the Kia Seltos are also expected to debut in 2026, likely featuring hybrid powertrains.Â
