Russia launched seven Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and 239 drones of various types against Ukraine from the evening of 17 June. Ukrainian forces reported that 216 aerial targets were destroyed or neutralized, while strikes by two missiles and 26 drones were recorded.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, preliminary data as of 08:00 showed that air-defense units had shot down or jammed 216 aerial assets, including four Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and 212 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other drones across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
The Air Force said that impacts from two missiles and 26 drones were confirmed at nine locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell at seven sites. Verification is still underway regarding one ballistic missile.
The missiles were launched from Russia’s Voronezh, Bryansk, and Kursk regions. The drones were launched from the Russian cities of Kursk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from occupied Crimea and Russian-controlled areas of Donetsk Oblast.
Ukraine said aircraft, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare systems, drone units, and mobile fire groups participated in repelling the attack.
As of the morning, the aerial assault was still ongoing.
