The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended for one week due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. The decision, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), comes after recent cross-border incidents and security concerns, including the abandonment of a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala due to a power outage amid air raid warnings .

The suspension affects the remaining 12 league matches and the playoffs, which were scheduled to conclude in late May. The BCCI is evaluating options for rescheduling the tournament, with possibilities including relocating matches or postponing them to a later date .
Foreign players and officials, particularly from Australia and England, are arranging departures from India due to safety concerns. The Pakistan Super League has also relocated its remaining fixtures to the UAE amid similar tensions .
The BCCI emphasized that the suspension prioritizes the safety of players, fans, and stakeholders, and decisions regarding the tournament’s resumption will be made in consultation with all parties involved .
