TV couple Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma, known for Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna, were recently accused by Bengali film producer Shyam Sunder Dey and his wife Malabika of orchestrating a kidnapping and extortion while in Goa. The allegations emerged just days after the duo shared they had lost their life savings in a scam.

According to Malabika’s police complaint, the couple, along with an associate, allegedly intercepted Shyam’s car on a busy road, forced him into a villa, and held him against his will from June 1 to June 4. They reportedly demanded Rs 64 lakh and forcibly obtained Rs 23 lakh by threatening false drug charges and coercing Shyam to sign property documents through intimidation and physical duress.
Shyam’s wife shared FIR copies, WhatsApp screenshots, and bank receipts as evidence. She claims that Shyam secretly sent a distress video and location to his wife, enabling Goa police to rescue him. An FIR under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abduction, extortion, wrongful confinement, and criminal conspiracy has since been registered.

In response, Puja and Kunal described the situation as the “lowest phase” of their lives, stating they too had been victims of a financial scam and were in a vulnerable state.
The case has sparked a media frenzy, with both actors remaining officially silent while investigations continue.
