Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, actor Harshvardhan Rane has announced his decision to withdraw from the upcoming sequel to Sanam Teri Kasam if Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane remains part of the project. This move follows Hocane’s critical comments on India’s recent military operation, Operation Sindoor.
Rane expressed his stance on Instagram, stating, “I’m thankful for the experience, but given the current situation and after seeing the comments made about my country, I’ve decided to respectfully step away from Sanam Teri Kasam part 2 if the previous cast is brought back.”

He further addressed Hocane’s remarks, emphasizing his respect for artists worldwide but asserting that derogatory comments about his country are unacceptable. “Supporting your country is important, but disrespectful and hateful remarks about another country are not,” he added.
In response to the controversy, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) reaffirmed its ban on Pakistani artists, urging Indian filmmakers and performers to avoid collaborations with Pakistani talent in the interest of national pride.
While Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is reportedly in development, there have been no official announcements regarding the cast. Rane’s decision underscores the complex interplay between artistic collaboration and national sentiment in the current geopolitical climate.
