Actor Vicky Kaushal, who recently embraced fatherhood with wife Katrina Kaif, has already decided on the first film from his own career that he wants his son to watch. Speaking in an interview after receiving the “Actor of the Year” award at the NDTV Indian of the Year 2025 event, Vicky revealed his heartfelt choice.
Contrary to expectations of a lighthearted or commercial hit, Vicky named his debut film, Masaan, as the one he wants to share with his son. “Wow, the first film. I would like him to watch my first film. Masaan. It’s a nice film. I know it’s a hard film to watch, so maybe later on, not too early on in his life… But it shows life as life is,” Vicky explained.

Masaan, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, was a critically acclaimed social drama where Vicky played Deepak Kumar, a civil engineering student working at cremation ghats. The film deals with complex themes of life, death, and social stigma, which Vicky believes offer an honest portrayal of reality.
Vicky and Katrina welcomed their baby boy in November 2025. During the interview, Vicky also touched upon the topic of privacy for his newborn.
