Popular television actress Dipika Kakar, renowned for her role in Sasural Simar Ka, has revealed that she is battling stage 2 liver cancer. The diagnosis came after she experienced persistent stomach pain, leading to medical tests that uncovered a tennis ball-sized malignant tumor in her liver
In an emotional Instagram post, Dipika shared her journey, stating, “As you all are aware, the last few weeks have been quite difficult for us… walking into the hospital for pain in the upper area of my stomach… and then finding out it’s a tennis ball-sized tumor in the liver and then finding out that the tumor is second stage malignant (cancerous)… it has been one of the most difficult times we have seen, experienced!”
Dipika’s husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, has been a pillar of support during this challenging time. The couple also addressed how their young son, Ruhaan, is coping with the news. Despite his tender age, Ruhaan has shown remarkable understanding, sensing that his mother is unwell.
Medical professionals emphasize the importance of early detection in liver cancer. Symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and jaundice should not be ignored. Regular health check-ups and awareness of risk factors, including hepatitis infections, heavy alcohol use, and fatty liver disease, are crucial for early diagnosis and effective treatment.
